Quarantine & Music
Quarantine has had its ups and downs for me. Many times, I have very much missed human contact with my friends, visiting their homes and talking for hours. Sometimes we meet for video calls, but it’s not the same. It has also been very difficult economically for my family, since they could not get their jobs back since the social outbreak in October last year until today, so they had to look for new options, not so good, and we had to change some things in our daily lives.
On the other hand, especially during the first months, I had a lot of time to play instruments. As some of you may know, I’m a musician and I really enjoy playing different instruments. So, during this period I was able to practice much more, especially bass, guitar and piano, which are what I have available in my apartment. My main instrument is the drums, but since I live in a building, I can't have it here, so it's at the home of the guitarist of one of my bands. That's one of the things that I miss a lot, until a few weeks ago I went seven months without being able to play drums, I had never been so long without playing since I started fourteen years ago. But recently a band from Los Ángeles called The Slow Voyage contacted me to join them. They needed me to go to their city to record a three-song live show for a festival in Concepción. So, I traveled, trying to respect all the corresponding protocols and I was able to play again after a long time. Although I still miss the audience at shows.
This Saturday 7th the show we recorded will be released, so if you are interested in seeing it, press the next image:
I have an ocarina simulator in my Iphone, it's an app called "SmuleOcarina". The sound appears as a reaction to a stimulus in the microphone. So... you actually have to blow the mic in order to the "ocarina" to sound, and you can use your fingers in the screen -making different and actual positions- to play different notes. I play it sometimes, when I'm bored.
